Vats Wedge Resection Lung Biopsy

VATS is a medical method that emerges as a minimally invasive thoracic surgery, also known as video-assisted thoracic surgery. The purpose of VATS, which is a competitor to traditionally applied open thoracic surgery, is to keep the incisions at a minimum level, to speed up the recovery time, and to minimize patient trauma. Therefore, it is possible to say that the main difference from open-chest surgery is that smaller incisions are used. During this operation, surgical instruments and thoracoscopy are inserted through the small incisions made during this operation, which transmit the images to the computer monitor.

Wedge Resection

The technique we call wedge resection is actually the removal of certain tissues in the lung using surgical methods. At this point, it may be possible to recognize, diagnose and treat lung nodules. For this, wedge resection is preferred.

Lung Biopsy

While investigating whether there are any signs of disease in the lungs, a biopsy is made by the doctors. During the biopsy, the sample tissue taken and sent to pathology, where it is subjected to a detailed examination, and from there it is sent to the microbiology laboratory and examined by experts.
