What is Mutational Falsetto?

During adolescence, respiratory, phonation, and resonance organs begin to develop under the influence of growth and hormones, and therefore the pitch and quality of the voice begin to change. These changes are much more pronounced in boys than in girls. Voice problems such as pitch and voice breaks, instability, and hoarseness can be seen during adolescence. Although there is no problem with the structure of the larynx, the voice may not thicken and remain thin.

In these patients, no anatomical or physiological defect can be found on vocal cord examination. The vibration of only the anterior part of the vocal folds during speech causes the voice to become high-pitched and whispery or breathy.

The sound therapy session is approximately 45 minutes. The sound therapist finds the habitual pitch, that is, the basic frequency that should be according to the larynx structure, by interfering with the larynx (larynx). Then, stabilization is provided by the visual feedback method.
