As you know, in the normal process of female ovaries, only one ovule matures in a month and becomes ready for ovulation. However, the aim is to increase the number of maturing ovule cells and increase the chance of fertilization. For this reason, the normal process is suppressed.
On the 3rd day of the menstrual period, the ovaries are stimulated with the help of needle-shaped drugs containing hormones. The purpose of the use of drugs is to increase the chance of pregnancy by enabling the development of more than one ovule cell at the same time.
When the stimulated ovules reach a certain maturity and size, a different hormonal needle is used to cause the ovule cells to crack. Approximately 36 hours after the needle application, the ovule collection process takes place.
After the collection process, the eggs are kept in a culture environment in a special cabinet in the laboratory environment. Meanwhile, sperm is prepared using a special washing technique and healthy sperm is separated. In IVF, 4-6 hours after the ovule cells are collected, the sperms are left next to the ovule cells and fertilization is expected.
The transfer process is performed 48 to 72 hours after the collection of fertilized embryos (zygote). The procedure is simple and painless. The patient can go home immediately. The progesterone hormone to be administered vaginally or as an injection is given to the patient until the pregnancy test to be performed two weeks later. An ultrasound is performed to see the gestational sac 10 days after the pregnancy test results are positive for the patient.
