If the pancreas transplant is to be performed with a kidney transplant, the right groin is reserved for the pancreas, while the left groin is reserved for the kidney. However, it should be noted that the priority for kidney transplantation in other patient groups is the right groin.

How Is Open Nephrectomy Performed?

During the nephrectomy procedure, with an incision made in the groin, the kidney is placed behind the peritoneum and vascular and urinary tract connections are provided. Thus, a stent is placed in the urinary tract along with the kidney that begins to function, but this stent is removed after a few weeks. After the closure of the operation, the patient is recommended not to force himself/herself too much and not to lift heavy, and to rest a lot.
