Mammography

Using low-dose radiation, mammography is a radiological diagnostic method that allows detailed examination of female breast tissue. Mammography is used as an important imaging tool in the diagnosis of breast cancer, which is the most common type of cancer in women. And mammography is a type of health screening that every woman over the age of 40 should have once a year. And it is applied for the early diagnosis of breast cancer by compressing the breast between 2 layers and taking the film.

What is Mammography?

Studies show that one out of every 8 women worldwide is at risk of breast cancer. However, approximately 90% of patients diagnosed with breast cancer in the early stages recover completely. At this point, mammography is the best diagnostic method that increases the chance of success of the treatment and ensures that the cancer is treated without allowing it to spread to other tissues of the body. Mammography is actually the process of taking an x-ray film of the breast tissue.

During this process, the breast is placed between the 2 layers of the mammography device that performs imaging with x-rays and is slightly compressed. Then, a small amount of x-ray is given to the breast tissue and the image of the breast tissue is transferred to the computer environment. With the examination of the physician, it is understood whether there is an abnormality in the breast tissue. Thanks to mammography, which is accepted as the gold standard in the diagnosis of breast cancer, small masses or differences in the breast are quickly noticed.
