Generally, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the removal of the gallbladder from the body. The laparoscopic surgery we are talking about here is a method known as bloodless surgery among people. During cholecystectomies performed with this method, a single large incision is not made on the body, instead, the procedure consists of several small incisions. Then, with the laparoscope, that is, a tube with a camera at the end, everything that happens during the operation is reflected on the screen and the doctor provides the necessary controls. Afterward, the gallbladder is taken out through the small incision created.
The main purpose of the gallbladder is to collect and concentrate the gall, which we call the digestive fluid. Gall is produced by the liver and secreted after eating to aid digestion. This gall fluid is then transferred to the small intestine through the ducts. Although removal of the gallbladder is a necessary condition for some patients, there is no digestive disorder in people who have had their gallbladder removed.
There may be some conditions that require removal of the gallbladder with cholecystectomy. For example, it is known that the main cause of gallbladder problems is gallstones. These gallstones are small and hard masses and it is not always clear why they develop. Moreover, it has not yet been determined how it is possible to prevent gallstones. Gallstones, which can cause abdominal pain, vomiting, indigestion, or sometimes fever, prevent the flow of the gallbladder. For this reason, appropriate solutions to the problem are recommended by doctors by applying various imaging techniques such as ultrasound to detect gallstones. One of these methods is cholecystectomy, which we talked about in this article.
