Gastric Polyps Removal

The treatment of gastric polyps is varied. The factors that determine the treatments are: Polyp type, size, shape, location, number, the general health status of the patient. Treatment is different in the hyperplastic polyp. This type of polyp carries a high risk of cancer. A biopsy is taken and signs of cancer are looked for. Unsightly and large polyps are removed. Even if the polyp appears normal, the hyperplastic polyp is followed. Endoscopy is done at regular intervals.

Adenomatous polyps carry a high risk of becoming cancerous, so they are usually removed. Any formation that may turn into cancer in the stomach is removed. The removal of polyps is called a polypectomy.
