Pre-Procedure Preparations

Procedure Process and Protocols

1. Sedation and Anesthesia:
   • Local anesthesia is used for flexible bronchoscopy, while general anesthesia may be required for rigid bronchoscopy.
2. Insertion of the Bronchoscope:
   • A flexible or rigid bronchoscope is inserted through the mouth or nose to access the airways.
   • Real-time imaging guides the scope to the target area.
3. Tissue Sampling:
   • Specialized tools like biopsy forceps or brushes are used to collect tissue samples from suspicious lesions or nodules.
   • Advanced techniques like Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) may be employed for precise sampling.
4. Completion:
   • The bronchoscope is carefully removed, and samples are sent to the lab for pathological analysis.

Post-Procedure Care and Considerations

1. Immediate Monitoring:
   • Patients are observed for 1–2 hours to monitor recovery from sedation.
2. Common Post-Procedure Symptoms:
   • Temporary coughing or a sore throat.
   • Mild blood-tinged sputum, which typically resolves within 24 hours.
3. Follow-Up:
